RIVAL gang members clashed at the Wanganui District Court yesterday.
One witness said he could sense something was going to happen between the Black Power and Mongrel Mob gang members and ducked for cover as a flurry of punches started.
Wanganui police senior sergeant Shayne Wainhouse said the incident erupted after a
verbal altercation on Abbot St earlier in the morning.
"Allegedly, a member of another group was punched by a Black Power West Coast gang member and there was an altercation between the two groups."
Two Wanganui men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour and appeared in court yesterday afternoon.
Mr Wainhouse said police had a zero tolerance attitude toward gang violence.
"The message is offending by gang members won't be tolerated or ignored and police will continue to take a hard line with members of gangs that involve themselves in this type of behaviour."
