Friday night action at Hatrick Raceway in Whanganui.

Friday night action at Hatrick Raceway in Whanganui.

The open class 520m greyhounds are missing from tonight'sHatrick action as they prepare for Monday's running of the $65,000 Manawatu Cup in Palmerston North.

That leaves the race 10, The Rock 95.2FM C3/4 520m event as the headline race, which contains a rather competitive, even looking field.

Running out her C4 nominations, thanks to her Manawatu C4 Monday 457m win, is the Lisa Cole prepared Bigtime Lily.

The recent Waterloo Cup fourth place-getter is poised to capitalise on her bonus C4 opportunity from the four trap here.

It is a field that is dominated by Cole trained chasers. Bigtime Fred was the runner-up to Lily when finishing 1-1/4 lengths behind her.

Another competitive race can be expected from him, while his kennelmates Chalk And Cheese and Bigtime Forest are capable of securing a stake in this race.

The open class sprinters line up in the race 5 Liquorland Wanganui 305m dash.

The field features the return of the sharp sprinter Sir Duggie for Cole. Overlook the miss he endured prior to going out for his brief spell. He can bounce away smartly from trap seven.

Tyson's Quest dominated his open class 520m rivals last Friday when he delivered his freewheeling 29.98s win for local conditioner Brian Marsh. He is more than capable of producing an equally sharp sprint here from the two trap.

Another local trainer, Wendy Kite, has her sprinter Al's Apprentice ticking over sweetly at the moment as seen by his four consecutive open class 305m second placings. They have been from mostly poor draws which is the same in this dash where he'll jump from trap five.

The stake claims held by last Friday's 17.47s 305m winner Bigtime Eve for Cole, plus also the Angela Turnwald mentored Benny Burrito cannot be lightly dismissed.

It comes as no surprise to see Cole-trained greyhounds dominate Monday's Manawatu Cup (race 5, meeting 9) field. She provides seven of the eight drawn contenders.

Spearheading her attack on her local cup is Blazin' Carter. His kennelmates Ask King Jeff, Bigtime Levi and Bigtime Wendle hold place claims, while the potential bolter here is Bigtime Vanessa.

Looking to upstage the Cole squad is Monster Fish from the Turnwald kennels. He is a serious 457m chaser around this circuit as seen by his bold 25.87s win at this venue last Monday.
