The Rocky Horror Picture Show is coming to Whanganui.
Richard O'Brien's musical comedy horror The Rocky Horror Picture Show may be over 40 years old but it is a hot favourite with fans of all ages.
After the film first screened in 1975, audience members would go to the cinemas dressed as the characters and interact with the film.
Flash Mob Entertainment and Nauti NZ have teamed up to bring an interactive experience with a "live shadowcast" to Whanganui's Frank Bar and Eatery on September 9.
The film will be projected on to a screen at Frank while a live cast perform and the audience get to interact with them.
Sophia Offen, who plays flame-haired, tap dancing character Columbia, says it is quite challenging to act along with the film.
"Sometimes an audience member will try to lead the actors away from the script.
"It is all part of the fun."
Shadowcast is the branchild of Tansi Williams, of Tansi Productions, who enlisted Sunita Martin, of Flash Mob Entertainment, to share production and director duties.
"Bringing these shows to other regions is just a stepping stone to the ultimate dream of cabaret world domination," says Martin.
She started Flash Mob with husband Hamish Martin after they were unable to hire a portable photo booth for their wedding so they bought their own to hire out to others.
Flash Mob Entertainment has now expanded to include other aspects of entertainment such as singing telegrams, cabarets, event planning, private bartending and mixology, actors, quiz masters and MCs and musical acts.
"We will have the booth operating at the show at Frank. People will be able to get photos of the actors and each other."
