Mark Sorenson came out of retirement to be part of the world champion Black Sox team in 2004.

Award-winning former Black Sox head coach and player Mark Sorenson knows a thing or two about team performance and he's coming to Whanganui to share some tips.

Sorenson was named world coach of the year by the World Baseball Softball Confederation after New Zealand's softball team, the Black Sox, won the softball world championship in 2017.

He is also a former captain of the Black Sox and led the team to victory at the world championships in 1996 and 2000.

He came out of retirement and returned to the team in 2004 and it became the first team ever to win three consecutive softball world championships.

Sorenson is now business manager for recruitment company AWF which supplies skilled and semi-skilled staff, particularly for civil, manufacturing, logistics and commercial office-based roles.
