The second exercise on Sunday will be a specialist squad training that will cover scenarios the police search and rescue team and partnering agencies could encounter.
It will involve one Coastguard vessel, two Surf Life Saving inflatable rescue boats, one safety boat and about 30 people.
“The public can expect to see increased activity on and around the river, and we want to reassure people there is no cause for alarm,” police said.
Other vessels on the river should proceed with caution in the area and follow any instructions from emergency services personnel.
