Wanganui's Dallas Rowan continued his good season with second place in a strong junior dragster field at the Tokoroa Drag Racing Thunder IV in Tokoroa.
The latest round of the NZ Drag Racing Association points score series was held at the Amisfield dragstrip on Sunday, with Rowan the sole Wanganui-baseddrag racer taking part.
The 16-year-old qualified third for the junior dragsters, then progressed to the final against the No1 qualifier, Wellington's Nathan Hartley.
Hartley won the final race by the narrowest of margins.
The next round of the series is the Central Nationals at Masterton this coming weekend.
Rowan has already had a lot of success at the new drag strip at the Masterton Motoplex this summer.
On the January 19 weekend at the inaugural meeting on the strip, he qualified first in the large junior field and duly went on to win in the final round.
A month later, on February 16, Rowan had another win in the junior dragsters at the official grand opening, also after being top qualifier.
