A distinctive Gibson Les Paul Jim Beam guitar was stolen in a Balgownie Ave burglary.

Burglars targeted musical instruments and equipment when a Balgownie Ave property was broken into.

Whanganui Police senior sergeant Shayne Wainhouse said the burglary happened between 7.30am and 6pm on Thursday, May 17.

Items stolen included a Korg X3 synthesiser, a Roland D50 synthesiser, a Fender Dreadnought Cutaway acoustic guitar, a Gibson Les Paul Jim Beam guitar and a pair of Technics studio headphones.

"Some of the items, such as the Jim Beam guitar, are quite distinctive and we would like to hear from anyone who has seen them or has information about them," Wainhouse said.
