Designing a business for herself

Debra Bullock's love of colour, texture and design has seen her develop her own interior design business in Wanganui.

Married with three children, Ms Bullock has more recently created her own website site as she continues to develop the business.

She gained a Diploma in Interior Design 10 years ago and her first projects came initially through Levenes and then Colourplus.

To date, her work with the developers of Aotea Motor Lodge is her largest project. Other projects include Central Plunket Rooms, Ozanam Villa, and a variety of new homes and renovation projects.

Currently she is contracted to a couple of local builders for new build projects and one of those is the Ringley Estate subdivision on St Johns Hill.

"Visualising from building plan is my speciality. I've worked in both flooring and lighting showrooms, and that's helped me gain valuable product knowledge," Ms Bullock said.

"I work with the client to bring their desired end result to reality. And whether building, renovating, getting ready for sale or simply another opinion, I can offer affordable colour advice."

But it's not just about interior design.

Her design skills have seen her styling wrap tops and dresses using a range of satins, silks and stretchy knit fabrics.

"Targeted at expectant mums, they are versatile, they fit all body types. I swore by these during my pregnancies, uplifting the spirits once thrown over maternity Ts to add a touch of style and a sense of glam," she said.

And in the pipeline is a line of girls' dresses which she said is "soon to blossom".
