A woman cyclist died at the Mangapurua Track area on Sunday before the rescue helicopter could reach her.

A woman cyclist died at the Mangapurua Track area on Sunday before the rescue helicopter could reach her.

Police have confirmed that a female cyclist, aged 71 died at Mangapurua Track near the Bridge to nowhere on Sunday.

It is believed that she went over a bluff on her cycle and died at around 2.50pm.

Police have not yet released the woman's name.
