The Light Up Bike Spectacle held in Whanganui on Friday night was a huge success and organiser Riah King Wall said there was an "incredible turnout."

The family-friendly event was organised by Whanganui District Council in conjunction with Rangiwahia Environmental Arts Centre and the Whanganui Regional Museum.

A celebration of Te Tuaiwi, Whanganui's new inner-city cycleway, the "all wheels" event encouraged owners of scooters, buggies, unicycles, skateboards, roller skates, wheelchairs and more to light up and join the fun.

King Wall said attendance numbers had not been tallied yet but it's safe to say it was a very well-supported event.
