The Watsons Wanganui Under 12 cricket team won a nailbiter against North Taranaki by six runs on Sunday.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat on a damp wicket, Wanganui were bowled out for 115, their best performer being Kelvin Brown with 27.
On a day forthe bowlers, Wanganui's attack brought together a very tight collective effort, with Levi Woolston taking 2-13 off eight overs, followed by Joel Clark's 2-10 off eight with four maidens.
This was complemented with Ben Strang bowling at the death with 3-15 off 4.4 overs.
Backed up by some good fielding, Wanganui shut the Taranaki side down to dismiss them for 109 in the 38th over.
