Someone owed Blair Alister Morley money, so he showed up at their house with a hammer.
He has since discovered that is not the best way to settle debts.
Morley appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon and speaking threateningly.
He had lent $1500 to the victim, but $1300 was still outstanding, defence lawyer Anna Brosnahan said.
Morley had contacted the victim saying he was going to smash her or her car windows, and then showed up at her Delhi Ave address on May 22 with the hammer, police prosecutor Sergeant Drew Morrison said. He hid the the hammer under a floormat before going to knock on her door, but the victim refused to open up as she was afraid for her safety and that of her three children.
