Comedian and broadcaster Te Radar is the guest speaker at a SPCA Wanganui fundraiser next month.
November 2-8 is national appeal week for the SPCA and Te Radar will speak at the War Memorial hall on November 3.
Te Radar, also known as Andrew Lumsden, says his illustrated talk, ALighter Shade of Green, "will expose the lies of generations of television gardeners, celebrate some of the characters I've met, and reveal some of New Zealand's hilarious animal history - from sheep and cows to zebra-drawn carriages and big cat escapes".
The comic studied law at Otago University and later took up drama.
He has worked extensively on radio and television, particularly as a panelist on Radio New Zealand's Afternoons show and travel documentaries for both media.
Two television series, Off the Radar and Homegrown saw him tackle sustainable living following a green manifesto.
He was the 1998 winner of the New Zealand Comedy Festival's Billy T Award for comedy excellence, and the 2012 winner of the NZ Television Award for best factual series for Radar Across the Pacific, and best information series for Global Radar.
Tickets for the Te Radar show in Wanganui are available online at Eventfinda.
The SPCA appeal will include a bucket collection on Friday, November 6 in central Wanganui and on the following Saturday at four locations around the town, including the River Traders' Market.
