Patapatai is a new quiz show appearing on Maori Television this week and Wanganui City College students are among the contestants on the show.
They can't say too much before the show goes to air although they did divulge that filming in the big studio at Avalon in Wellington madethem feel like megastars.
Teacher Mike Connor who accompanied the students to Wellington for the filming said it was a great experience and the 12 other schools competing came from as far as Auckland and Invercargill.
"I can't tell you where we placed but I can say Ka omahia te oma pai, Ka whawhaitia te whaiwhai pai - we fought the good fight and we ran the good race."
Mr Connor said the team of 10 City College students were rotated with groups of three competing while the other seven supported them.
"The topics were general knowledge, famous personalities, history, kapa haka moves and there were questions from the school curriculum as well," he explained.
The students were filming in June during the floods in Wanganui and they learned that their school was closed and their friends had formed an army of helpers back home.
Patapatai premieres on Maori TV on Thursday, September 17 at 5pm.
