Detective Brett Humphrey of Whanganui Police said the incident was still being investigated and charges were a possibility.
Whanganui Fire Service and police helped the driver out of this Mercedes-Benz car, which crashed at the corner of Bryce and Hood streets in Castlecliff on Saturday just before 11am.
The male driver was taken to Whanganui Hospital but discharged the same day.

About 4pm on Saturday, a motorcyclist was also taken to Whanganui Hospital after hitting a fence in Karaka St. And in the early hours of Saturday morning another car hit a powerpole on State Highway 3 near Maxwell. Police used a dog to find the male driver, who was the only occupant and had left the scene. That crash briefly downed powerlines on the northbound side of the road.
