A central Whanganui block will be in the dark on Tuesday night as Powerco carry out scheduled maintenance.

The company is planning to replace a power pillarbox on the corner of Victoria Ave and Guyton St.

Properties affected include 151-175 Victoria Ave and 86 to 100 Guyton St with power to be turned off at 10.15pm and scheduled to come back on by 4.45am on Wednesday.

Powerco are advising affected properties switch off sensitive equipment, such as computers, at the wall.
