Carpentry apprentices have a few weeks left to enter the Central North Island Registered Master Builders Carters 2018 Apprentice of the Year competition.
Eligible apprentices will be in the running to compete for the national title and win a share of more than $100,000 in prizes.
This year Registered MasterBuilders has introduced a practical challenge at the regional competition, and apprentices will also be judged on their initial entry submission.
The top 10 in each region will be interviewed by a judging panel and have an on-site visit where contestants will discuss their project.
The regional winners will compete at the Apprentice of the Year national competition in Auckland in November.
Registered Master Builders has also introduced an award for employers who have had an apprentice win three regional titles. This recognises employers who are investing in apprentices and giving back to the industry.
• Carpentry apprentices can enter the competition online at www.apprenticeoftheyear.co.nz/ Entries close on June 4.
