A man has been taken to Whanganui Hospital after his car rolled on Kaikokopu Rd in Whanganui on Wednesday afternoon.
The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle which was headed in the direction of Aramoho and near Blueskin Rd when it crashed.
Constable Zak Thornton was at thescene and said that it appeared the driver had lost concentration.
No other vehicles were involved.
"If you move about 20 metres in front of the car you can see the gravel has changed a little bit, he has gone up the bank there and then rolled to where he is," Thornton said.
"We'll have an interview with the driver when he gets out of the hospital, he's not injured, he has gone in there fully alert, able to engage and not in pain."
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution only.
Police received a phone call from a friend of the driver at about 12.55pm.
"It probably happened a bit sooner, it got rung in second hand, a guy rung it in on behalf of his mate. His mate has crashed, the airbags gone off and he's hopped out and rung his mate," Thornton said.
"He's lucky, it could always be a bit worse."
A tow truck arrived to remove the car from the scene.
