Look Good Feel Better, the charity that helps people having cancer treatment by providing esteem-building workshops around New Zealand, was in Whanganui for the first time yesterday.
With a specially kitted-out 12m container named "Look Good Feel Better On the Move", the charity has been able to reach places ithas not been to before and yesterday it was open for business in the Mitre 10 Mega carpark in Taupo Quay.
Four Whanganui women had their first therapy session with make-up artist Kris Gilmour and hairdresser Carmel Drysdale from Palmerston North - both long-serving Look Good Feel Better volunteers.
Eleanor Bowler from Marton said she had been assisting with workshops since they began 25 years ago and was delighted to be present at the first Whanganui workshop.
Brenda Ross, Mary Dean, Faye Bulloch and Dorothy Wallis each received skin care and make-up products to take home after they were shown how to apply them.
None of the women had been able to make it to workshops held in Palmerston North and were pleased to get the call to say they could attend yesterday.
Michelle Jardine of Whanganui popped in to say hello yesterday, and said it was great to see a workshop happening here. "I went to one in Palmerston North last year and it was fabulous."
The mobile service will head for New Plymouth tomorrow before stopping off at a dozen more towns all the way up to Whangarei and Kerikeri.
