COMMENT:
Having just got in from playing guitar and singing at Mud Ducks, it is now time to sit down and write this week's column.
My thoughts have been focused on songs – remembering the words to my own songs and favourites I enjoy performing.
For this reason, what follows is a patchwork of song lyrics strung together. You can hum this column. If you print it off then stick the paper on the bathroom wall, you can sing it in the shower.
It's been a hard day's night but you can't always get what you want as everywhere you go you always take the weather with you even on a stormy Monday.
So, get you motor running say goodbye to yellow brick road and Highway 61 as there will be racing in the streets on thunder road cos baby we were born to run.
I say yes and you say no so shake it up baby now and stop in the name of love with that jive talking and walk this way, twist and shout, 'cos how does it feel to be on your own, like a rolling stone, on the dark side of the moon?
Can you feel the love tonight? Are you picking up good vibrations? Did you hear it on the grapevine or did you feel it in the air tonight?
The answer my friends is blowing in the wind so may you never lay your head down without a hand to hold or get caught in a masquerade.
The dancing queen is at Waterloo waiting on Waterloo sunset for jumping jack flash to walk right in sit right down and say because your mine I walk the line.
There may be 50 ways to leave your lover but when sorry seems to be the hardest word and the bridge over troubled waters is at the dark end of the street and you still haven't found what you were looking for at heartbreak hotel that every breath you take it's a heart ache nothing but a heart break cos you can check out any time you like but you can never leave.
We can be heroes, strangers in the night on the stairway to heaven and wish upon a star, if that's what you want what you really want.
You can walk on the wild side, I am willing to be your Dixie chicken with little feat because time loves a hero as people you misuse on the way up you might meet on your way back down.
Money, money, money must be funny to be in Penny Lane yesterday. Imagine Sergeant Pepper singing she loves you to lady Madonna while on the helter skelter and wanting to hold your hand for the last waltz?
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just - oops I've done it again so don't let the sun go down on me, just walk away Renee. I will cry me a river as I sit on the dock of the bay and every time I sing this song to the moon in June I will remember how we walked hand in hand along the sand and smoke got in my eyes.
