Plan debate
Whanganui district councillors will debate public submissions to the council's long term plan this week.
Deliberations will be held on Wednesday and Thursday where decisions will also be made on what goes into the final plan for sign off.
The meeting runs between 9.00am to 5.00pm on Wednesday and
will be reconvened on Thursday at 9am.
It will also be streamed live of the council's Facebook page and website.


Gas leak
A gas element left on in a shop in the Trafalgar Square food court resulted in a callout for Whanganui fire crews on Sunday night. Senior station officer Craig Gardiner said Fire and Emergency New Zealand was called to isolate a gas leak at the shopping complex about 10pm on Sunday.


Nursing talk
UCOL has organised a talk by local nurse practitioner Jane Dutton to mark International Nurses Day last Saturday. She will talk about her nursing journey that brought her to her current role at 12noon tomorrow, may 16, at UCOL.


Correction
The house in which a lounge ceiling collapsed in Whanganui on Sunday was in Matipo St. The Chronicle reported the wrong street yesterday.
