A Wanganui cellphone store was broken into and several devices stolen this week.

At 6.20am on Tuesday a passing motorist saw the Vodafone shop in Victoria Ave being broken in to. One of the front glass doors was broken and four devices were stolen. The person who saw the break-in drove to the Whanganui police to tell them.

Police arrived, followed by a security company.

The store manager told the Chronicle the cost to fix the front door was more than the cost of the devices taken.

A Chronicle website user informed our staff about the incident via the Comments section: "A Wanganui Vodafone store was broken in to in the early hours of Tuesday morning in witch[sic] all the windows were broken and phones were stolen and police cordon on the shop anyone with info is to call Wanganui police or Crimestoppers."
