Emitai Logadraudrau missed the chance to add to his impressive tryscoring tally when the Boxon's opposition defaulted on Saturday.
The Whanganui Boxon stay on top of the TRL Paddock to Plate Butchery Premiership but had the weekend off after the Bell Block-Marist Dragons defaulted their home game at Hickford Park on Saturday.
Boxon coach Haze Reweti said the Dragons, who were on a three match losing streak, couldn't fielda full team, gifting his side the two competiton points without having to make a two hour car ride.
They move to 11 points with a 5-1-2 record and stay on top of the table with two rounds remaining.
The top two teams will automatically go to the second weekend of the playoffs with home semifinals on June 23, after the other four sides have played off in the quarterfinals the previous Saturday.
However, not taking the field prevented the Boxon players adding to their personal successes, as speedy Fijian winger/fullback Emitai Logadraudrau was leading the Premiership tryscorers table with nine tries this season, followed by clubmates Tautahi Rawiri (seven) and Shade Heta and Jordan Davis (both six).
Rawiri was also on top of the overall points scorers list with 66, however members of the Linton Cobras have likely made up ground on those charts after the weekend, as Shadow Wirori came into the round with six tries while team mate Corey Govenor was on 60 points.
After a horror start to the campaign with four losses, the Cobras have come right by rattling off four straight wins, including beating the Hawera Hawks 48-24 in Palmerston North on Saturday.
The Boxon's next game is another away match, to the Waitara Bears on Sunday, kickoff 2.30pm.
