In recent weeks eastside players have come to dominate the Ryman Wanganui Open Championships.

In the finals of the Centre Open fours, Wanganui East Bowling Club women, Robin Evans, Diane Martin, Sadie Head and Robin Firmin defeated Liz Anderson's composite team, while on the same day the men, Les Smith, Peter Head, Paul Beumelberg and Peter Raymond beat the highly-rated Clint Park's Wanganui Club team.

In the Centre Open pairs, played the previous weekend, Wanganui East again dominated with Robbie Robertson and Roger Neilson upsetting the fancied combination of Ray and Clint Park as Bev Wilson and Lorraine Mangin defeated Wanganui's Cynthia Adams and Carol Morpeth.

Also midweek, Wanganui East won the Men's Veteran Interclub Competition, while the women's teams came second and third in their corresponding competition.

In addition to all this Diane Martin, Peter Raymond and Robin Evans will receive their Gold Stars for winning five centre titles.
