Brass Whanganui is raising funds by combining lawn bowls and a beerfest on November 11.

Brass Whanganui is raising funds by combining lawn bowls and a beerfest on November 11.

An afternoon on the bowling green and a night in Bavaria are in store at Brass Whanganui's Beers, Bowls and Brass fundraiser on November 11.

Organising committee member Jess Power said the event would support the Durie Hill Bowling Club as well as raising funds for Brass Whanganui's trip to the national brass band competition in Blenheim next year.

"It will be a big day out and a good way to combine two things that we enjoy," Ms Power said.

"During the afternoon people will be able to have a go at playing bowls, though it's not compulsory, and in the evening we'll have a beerfest with an old-style oompah band and singing and people will get a beer mug to take home."

The band will be made up of Brass Whanganui members and there will also be two singers from the band.

"It should be a fun day out and we've had a lot of interest so far," Ms Power said.

"We've got some work groups coming and it could be a good Christmas function idea."

The bowling part of the event starts at 2pm on Saturday, November 11, at Durie Hill Bowling Club with the beerfest kicking off at 6pm.
