Lawn bowlers and dancers traded places and tips at a fundraising event at the Laird Park Bowling Club on Sunday.
The bowling club, Ceroc Whanganui and Dance Whanganui are raising money to improve security at their shared Peat St venue after some vehicle break-ins in the area.
Bowling club presidentJudy Titter said Sunday's event attracted about 50 participants.
"The dancers got a chance to learn to play bowls then the bowlers had to learn some dances," Mrs Titter said.
"It's all recreation so it's good that we're all sharing the space and finding out more about each other."
The bowls lesson and games were followed by demonstrations of Ceroc (modern jive) and salsa dancing, dancing lessons and social dancing, Ceroc Whanganui's Liz Frith said.
Proceeds from the open day will go toward security cameras to cover the premises and surrounding area.
