A police spokesperson has said that the death of a person whose body was found on Jones St Field on Friday afternoon is not being treated as suspicious.

Several Whanganui police officers attended the scene at the Anzac Pde end of Jones St after an informant discovered the body and called police at about 4.30pm.

The body will be referred to a coroner.
