The quality Hatrick greyhound chasing action continues this evening with the running of heats for two Group race finals that will be contested next Friday.

Last Friday the four 520m match races of two dogs decided the $60,000 Formpro Amazing Chase, which generated a buoyant atmosphere among the large attending crowd.

Overall time honours went to the regular Hatrick Friday attendee Bigtime Paddy.
His swift 29.85s time capped off a hugely successful 2017/18 season for the Lisa Cole-mentored greyhound.

Bigtime Paddy contested 54 races during the season, winning 33 of them.

He was placed on a further 16 occasions which resulted in $182,582 in stake earnings ($203,792 career total).

Bigtime Paddy takes his place in the first 520m heat for the Group 1 Wanganui Cup (Race 8) where he'll be sighted wearing the white racing vest.

He holds strong winning claims as he chases after his 43rd career victory.

Others who hold sound qualifying claims from this heat include Bigtime Twinkle, Soaring Hawke, Cawbourne Trixy and Panel Beater.

The second Wanganui Cup heat (Race 9) sees the Amazing Chase runner-up Nature's Gent securing the ace trap.

That provides the Angela Turnwald-prepared greyhound with solid winning claims.

Other qualifying prospects here include Bigtime Tears, Cawbourne Krusty, To The Nail and Ask King Jeff.

The final Wanganui Cup heat (Race 10) has a wide open look to it.

The Marcie Flipp-prepared Idol Tom will stick to the rail throughout from trap one.

The qualifying claims held by Waitohi, Quistis Bale, Bigtime Wendle and Egomaniacal cannot be lightly dismissed.

Earlier, two heats will have decided the finalists for the Wanganui Stayers at Group 2 level over the extreme 755m distance. The first heat (Race 4) features the presence of the proven 755m stayer Nitehawk Rose, who is resuming from a spell for her conditioner Bill Hodgson.

Cawbourne Taylor, Phantom Way, Mija Sydney and Translator all hold advancement claims from this heat.

Karen Walsh mentored Dusty Gambler to his victory in the Group 1 Wanganui Distance back in April.

She is returning with her stayer, seeking to maintain his unbeaten 755m record at this venue in the second heat (Race 5). Looking to deny him an unblemished track record will be Tranquil Blossom, Verta Bale, Opawa Abby Joy and Pirate's Curse.
