Smoke stacks, fish, Mother Earth and storm clouds are among a series of puppets being created ahead of this weekend's climate march in Wanganui.
About 25 people turned up at the Whanganui Environment Base at the Resource Recovery Centre for a puppet-making session on Sunday with the help of RangiwahiaEnvironmental Arts Centre Trust.
The many large puppets will be a feature in Saturday's march, which like many around the world, coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.
A further puppet-making session will be held this Friday at 10.30am.
The march leaves Wanganui's River Traders' market at noon on Saturday to walk to Majestic Square. It will be followed by a rally with music and speakers.
Speakers at the rally after the march will include Chronicle columnist Nicola Young, with Lindy Hatherly-Jones as master of ceremonies. More musicians and speakers, especially young speakers, are also wanted. To volunteer ring Mr McConkey on 343 1864.
