The tug from Wanganui's port tows a barge up the river toward the city bridge on a rising tide.Welding contractor Bob Anderson said the barge, belonging to Colin Cashmore, had been down at the port being refitted and staff were calling it The River Queen. Yesterday it was towed about 12km up the Whanganui River to Sparrow Cliff to be used in moving rocks for riverbank protection work. Mr Anderson said a low but incoming tide was needed, low to allow the vessels to fit under the city's bridges and incoming to help propel them upriver.
