There was a great selection of good quality dairy beef steers and heifers on offer at Rongotea today with an enthusiastic buying bench and a lift in prices, reported Darryl Harwood of NZ Farmers Livestock.

3 year cross bred steers 815kg made $2230.

2 year Friesian-Hereford cross steers 363kg-520kg made $2.74/kg-$2.86/kg, Angus cross steers 514kg made $1480 and cross bred steers 595kg made $1410.

2 year Friesian bulls 357kg-430kg made $2.05/kg-$2.33/kg.

Friesian-Hereford cross bulls 41kg made $945 and Angus cross bulls 435kg made $950.

Charolais cross bulls 485kg made $1190 and Speckle Park cross bulls 460kg made $1060.

2 year Friesian-Hereford cross heifers 310kg-518kg made $2.53/kg-$2.83/kg and Angus cross heifers 40kg-545kg made $2.22/kg-$2.82/kg.

Yearling Friesian-Hereford cross steers 144kg-297kg made $2.29/kg-$3.76/kg and Angus cross steers 184kg made $635.

Yearling Hereford bulls 266kg made $860, Friesian-Hereford cross bulls 337kg made $715 and Angus bulls 357kg made $930.

Yearling Friesian-Hereford cross heifers 167kg- 288kg made $2.39/kg-$3.04/kg, Hereford heifers 255kg made $830 and Murray Grey cross heifers 202kg made $570.
Weaner Friesian bulls 178kg made $450.
