Four St Johns Club Whanganui Metro colts players have made the district's under-20 representative rugby squad to begin training next week in preparation for game one against Poverty Bay on Saturday, August 5.

David Mariner, Blade Jones, Lochie Steedman and Corbin Warren are fresh from narrowly being beaten by Massey White in the final of the Manawatu McDonald's Colts division championship in Palmerston North at the weekend.

Metro only went down 3-0 to a side that had won the title the previous thre years on end and remained unbeaten in pool play throughout until this season when Metro overcame them by one point in round two of the competition.

The under-13 and under-11 squads have also been named.
