Fire crews remain on-site after extinguishing a vegetation fire at Koitiata near Turakina.

A vegetation fire in Kotiata, near Turakina, required the help of six surrounding fire crews to extinguish.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was called to the fire at 5.15pm on Sunday.

Fire crews from Manawatū, Marton, Bulls, Koitiata, Whanganui and the Palmerston North Volunteer Fire Brigade responded.

Fire and Emergency shift manager Murray Dunbar said the 3ha, slow-moving fire was 95% contained by 12.15am today.
