Just about everyone doing summer school glass courses in Wanganui last week fell in love with the material.
Several wanted to enrol in Wanganui Glass School at once. One, a United States resident on a motorcycle tour, was in the process of figuring out whether he could fit the school around
his business commitments.
He loves New Zealand, and said the glass school and Wanganui were the icing on the cake.
"This is going to be the last best place on Earth."
Graphic designer Diana Oates has her own cast glass studio at home in Auckland. She said she had learned something every day, and would be using the techniques at home.
One student in the hot glass course was in her eighth year at the summer school. Another was attending as a birthday present and staying at the Bushy Park Homestead as an added treat.
Everyone on the course had a good firing, cast glass tutor Carmen Simmonds said. They went home tired, but satisfied.
