Louis Baker

Louis Baker

Addict is the new track from singer/songwriter Louis Baker, the follow-up to Gave It All Away, a song which gained the New Zealander international attention.

With minimal instrumentation, Baker's amazing voice is showcased to its full potential in this funky, soulful number.

Baker will play Auckland's REC this Friday May 19, and Wellington's San Fran on Saturday May 20, both with full band.

Baker says: "The night will have its soft, quiet moments, and it will also have high-energy parts where the roof could lift off."

Ladi6 has delivered the first taste of her new EP Royal Blue 3000, due June 2.

Smooth new single Guru was released today, one of six tracks on the upcoming EP.

A teaser video (below) promises a regional tour next month.

Dub act Mt Eden have teamed up with New York's Fatherdude for the new track Anyone.

"When we came together the music and the chemistry just felt right," said Fatherdude.

"The song stemmed from a conversation we all had about the constant comparisons we face online with people we know and don't know. This is a song about forgetting those comparisons and embracing yourself and your own uniqueness."

Following the odd mysterious teaser, The National this week finally announced their new album, and the announcement came with a new song.

The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness is the first single from the band's seventh studio album Sleep Well Beast, set for release on September 8.

The album will be released in CD, digital and double LP formats, and a 12-song track listing has been revealed, including the first single and a title track.

Other darkly titled songs will include Day I DIe, I'll Still Destroy You and Dark Side of the Gym.

The song Roman Candle/Checking Out of a Collapsing Space, which they've performed live and you can find on YouTube, does not appear under those names.

But Turtleneck and Day I Die, which have also been performed live, are there.

The National have announced a northern hemisphere tour in support of the album, kicking off in Cork, Ireland on September 16. They will also play Glastonbury.
