Janine of Janine & The Mixtape fame has released a new single from her forthcoming debut album.

Don't Love Me was written by Janine, Krucial Keys and Jenna Andrews, and co-produced by Janine and 4E. She says the track embraces the moment it's really over.

"It's not about having a pity party for the things I've been through but more of a 'You can't mess with me anymore'."

Onehunga's finest SWIDT have a new track, and that's just the beginning.

Alfred & Church is part one of a four-part series, and appears to be named after an intersection in residential Onehunga.

The track is inspired by the early lives of five rap kids growing up there at the turn of the new millennium. Says publicity material: "It's their lives told through their words".

Alfred & Church is produced by Tae Beast (TDE) of School Boy Q and Kendrick Lamar fame.

Kendall Elise will play the last show of her I Didn't Stand a Chance EP release tour tomorrow night at The Golden Dawn Tavern of Power in Ponsonby, alongside Will Saunders and Durty Murder.

Elise performs a blend of rhythm and blues, folk and country, and her Facebook bio describes her as "Cutesy with a hint of darkness. Slow burning or foot stomping, and everything in between".

Pagan-folk-metal trio Hex have released a second single from their upcoming album Past, Present, Future.

The song Page of Pentacles follows first single The Moon, and arrives as the band get set for a 10-date Australian tour.

- SoundBites is a weekly compilation of music bits and bobs, and also appears in NZME's regional newspapers.
