Celebrate in a glitzy number or a floaty floral dress, amped up with a slick of red lippy

It seems like only weeks ago we were heading back to work after Christmas. But already the festive trees are up in shops and I'm getting emails reminding me how many shopping days (or rather, how few) are left before Christmas.

It's likely that the next couple of months will be full of invitations to work functions, client lunches and end-of-year get-togethers. Even if you're struggling to get into the festive spirit just yet, these are a great excuse to dress up.

I've compiled some of this summer's best Christmas party dresses - a couple to suit the more laidback parties and a few for more glamorous evening affairs.

It's also a great chance to wear a bit more makeup than you usually might - play with one of this season's vast array of red tones on your lips - and try out some new accessories.
