What is far more important is the style you create for yourself. Photo / Thinkstock

My friends are all into "brands". I can't really afford what they do and feel uncomfortable fronting up in my cheap clothes. What's your opinion?

I'm guessing that you're younger because as you age and start to become more of an individual and comfortable with what you have, things like this become much less of an issue. Your friends aren't necessarily making you uncomfortable about what you wear; it's yourself and your own levels of confidence and comfort.

To me, what is far more important is the style you create for yourself. Be your own person with your own look. If you wear your look with confidence, people will come to respect you for who you are. Some may even copy you!

I wear a huge mix of clothes, including many cheaper, mass-market brands. To me, the brand is far less important than the look I'm trying to achieve. It's what you do with those clothes, how you put them together, that really counts. Look at websites and fashion magazines for inspiration. Be sure of who you are and enjoy it.
