There are plenty of geometrics around.

There are plenty of geometrics around.

The monochrome trend is not new, but it's certainly one that has staying power.

Black and white prints are out in force this spring, so if you're after a classic way to update your wardrobe for the new season, investing in a black and white print is a great way to go.

Prints this season vary from the traditional spring florals, though there are plenty of those about too. Both Maaike and Karen Walker have included custom bleeding flower prints for a darker take on the norm.

There are also plenty of geometrics around, so if girly florals aren't your thing, clean-cut, angular lines are a great way to jump on the black and white bandwagon.

If neither of those looks suit your style, there are animal prints around as well for those of you so inclined.

Whichever way you do it, black and white is the way to go this spring, especially for those of us less enamoured with punches of colour. Introducing some crisp white to your dark winter wardrobe can be a great way to herald the new season's arrival.
