For the second consecutive year a small Wanganui firm has been recognised by its peers as the best in the business.

Garage Door Solutions, owned by Lance and Shelley Sandlant, is the local Dominator door installer and at this year's manufacturer's conference, the Wanganui business cleaned up when the awards were handed out.

For starters they repeated last year's win as small to medium dealer of the year. The icing on the cake came when the Sandlants were named supreme dealers of the year, heading off about 30 other Dominator suppliers across the country.

Garage Door Solutions in London St has been the Dominator franchise in Wanganui for nine years, covering the city, Waimarino, Rangitikei and into South Taranaki. It's a small outfit with the Sandlants and two installers on the team.

Mrs Sandlant said the judging was made on customer feedback, their relationship with Dominator, industry knowledge, and presentation of the showroom.

Mr Sandlant said the success of their business was based on a quality product and the fact they're local.

"It's not just installation. We provide consistent back up because our aim is to see happy customers," he said. "It's about that ongoing relationship and it's about continuity so it's great to get recognition from the industry."

As well as the Dominator doors, the Sandlants are also stockists of Wardrobe Solutions.
