Right up with swim of things

Wanganui's Anne and Gary Martin are enjoying the extra space at their new Pool Clinic premises in Wilson St.

They moved there in June after 15 years in Wicksteed St and made some alterations to the interior of the former bicycle shop.

Mrs Martin said they had been looking for the right place to expand their business for some time.

The new shop at 48 Wilson St has more prominence and good access for tankers carrying bulk chlorine.

Pool Clinic sells, makes, services and repairs everything to do with swimming and spa pools from new treatment substances such as magnesium salts to the construction of in-ground public and private swimming pools.

The Martins have built four pools so far this year and there are hundreds in the area they service, which stretches from Hawera to Foxton and inland to Ohakune.

Mrs Martin said despite the cool summer business had been brisk.

The business is a member of the NZ Master Pool Builders Guild and is NZQA accredited.

The couple attend annual trade conferences, where they catch up on all the latest innovations such as ozone and magnesium salt treatment systems, and swim jets.

Mr Martin has been in the industry for 20 years and was formerly an engineer.
