New owners look to build

There's a new team at the helm of one of Wanganui's aluminium joinery companies.

Peter and Louise Oskam have taken over Creative Aluminium in Heads Rd, assuming control on October 1.

Mr Oskam was working at Axiam Diecast as well as running the family farm at Kaiwhaiki while his wife was general manager of 5wise Ltd, a company providing LEAN training and implementation support. She had worked for 25 years at the Wanganui Hospital, first as a physiotherapist then as a manager. She is also vice-president of the Whanganui Employers' Chamber of Commerce.

They point out their latest venture is not associated with the Axiam group of companies.

Mrs Oskam said they were retaining the Creative Aluminium name and former owner, Terrence Wycherley, would be staying on with them in an advisory role for the next few months.

The company employs five staff in the factory assembling the joinery, with two working in the stores as well as one salesman.

Creative Aluminium is the local Nebulite franchise holder and Mrs Oskam said they were excited about being aligning to that Fletchers product.

The husband and wife team were looking for a business opportunity when the company came onto the market.

"We both recognise hat it has huge potential and we're looking to expand the business," Mrs Oskam said.

The company specialises in light commercial and residential aluminium joinery and will make to order.

As a joinery supplier the business works with architects, builders and private clients.
