TGM Design account manager Paula Barton is chuffed that her design for a Wanganui business is to be used in a textbook on marketing.
Paula Barton is one of two part-time and two full-time staff working at the TGM office in Wanganui. The company also has offices in Hawera and New
Plymouth.
Mrs Barton's design was for The Student Care Package side of Wanganui business The Paper Package.
She came up with an innovative idea, and client Therese Zimmerman took it on.
"Often you go to people with some quite left field ideas and they just look at you," Mrs Barton said.
The result of the idea was postcards printed by Wanganui's H&A Design & Print. They went out in Massey University student orientation packs in February.
The idea will be used as an example of innovative service marketing in the next edition of Marketing: Real People, Real Choices by Solomon and Charbonneau - a leading textbook for tertiary marketing students in New Zealand.
The Paper Package, based in Gonville, offers a wide range of original gifts, gift boxes and care packages. Its website is www.thepaperpackage.co.nz.
The Student Care Package was a new line, aimed at first year university students who might be missing home or just want a treat.
Into the orientation packs went a postpaid postcard with three parts. Students could keep one part and send the other two - eventually receiving the package of their choice if the recipient, usually a mum, was feeling generous.
The most popular of the six Student Care Packages offered proved to be the Goody Box, followed by The Tummy Filler. The Tummy Filler comprised more than 12 different items, including healthy options and comfort food such as chocolate-fudge brownies.
The packages are ordered online and delivered anywhere in New Zealand free of charge.
