Young Wanganui golfer Tara Raj can feel justifiably proud of her efforts at the conclusion of the New Zealand Women's Age Group Championship at the Taupo Golf Club yesterday.
As one of the youngest competitors on the Tauhara course, the intermediate student shot three rounds of 84 83 87 to finish just inside the Top 40.
However, while the championship is naturally decided on gross, Raj was actually at the top of the field for net medal, once her handicap is taken into account.
Proud father Dilan Raj said his daughter felt her second round was one of best she has ever shot.
The title was won by Manawatu-Wanganui representative golfer Brydie Hodge, as the Levin competitor shot rounds of 76 74 69 to be three over par, two shots ahead of Fitzroy's Holly Winter.
