A burst water main has caused some Gonville residents to wake up with no water on Wednesday morning.

The affected propeties are on Koromiko Road, between Tawa St and Carlton Ave, near Whanganui Hospital.

A Whanganui District Council spokesperson said water was shut off at 6.30am and is expected to be back on around 10am.

Whanganui District Council senior engineering officer Dave Rudolph said there was surface flooding near the Cancer Society building but no damage to the property itself.


He said water was shut off at 6.30am and supply to the affected properties was reconnected around 10am.
