Homes and gardens at Fordell, near Whanganui, are being opened to the public, all in a good cause.
Fordell School's fundraising committee is organising a House and Garden Ramble from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 10, to raise money for IT equipment for students.
Fordell School principal Yvette Moorhouse said half of the 200 tickets for the event had already been sold.
"People need to get in fast to get their tickets," Moorhouse said.
"We usually hold a ball for fundraising but this year the committee decided to do something different."
Ramblers will be able to visit 12 properties. At some, they will visit either the house or garden and at others both the house and garden will be open to view.
"The event wouldn't be possible without the support of the Fordell community opening their homes and gardens," Moorhouse said.
"There's a range of amazing old homes and modern homes and gardens.
"The start point is at Fordell School where people can collect their pack. They will get a booklet with information written by the owners about their homes. There will be stalls scattered around where people will be selling things like seedlings and ceramics."
Everyone who buys a ticket will go into a draw to win a Weber barbecue.
Tickets cost $35 per person and there is an option to add a picnic hamper for $15 per person. Contact Fordell School on 342 7828 to book tickets. There will be no sales on the day. The event is sponsored by Bayleys Whanganui.
