The Lyric Singers' end of year concert, Sing for Joy, will feature Welsh mezzo soprano Elin Tomos and Whanganui poet Airini Beautrais as guest artists.

Tomos is from Pwllheli, in northwest Wales and now lives in Marlborough, New Zealand.

She sang the Welsh national anthem for all three test matches in the Steinlager Series between the All Blacks and Wales last year.

Beautrais will read poems from her book Whanganui River Poems published in July this year.

"The choir will sing a range of classical and popular songs, offering something for everyone to enjoy," said conductor Joanna Love.

Each year the Lyric Singers donate money raised from their concert to a charitable organisation and last year they chose Wanganui Surf Lifeguard Service.

This year it is Whanganui group Singing for The Brain, an organisation which meets weekly in Whanganui to support people with a range of disabilities in therapeutic singing sessions.

Tickets are available at the door. Adults $15, children free. Saturday, November 25 at 2pm, St Mary's Catholic Church, Guyton St.
