Vets on Carlton is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a kid and pet-friendly open day on Saturday.

Activities for the children will include a petting zoo and bouncy castle and there will be spot prizes and giveaways. There will be specials on microchipping, vet foods and flea and worm treatments. The SPCA will run a fundraising sausage sizzle.

"Come on down and help us celebrate five years of giving wonderful care to the pets of Whanganui," veterinarian Peter Scott said.

"Everyone is welcome. Bring your pets as well as we are pet-friendly."

The event runs from 9am to noon on Saturday, October 7, at 60 Carlton Ave.
