Tug of war between Taihape Area School and Tongariro Area School

Tug of war between Taihape Area School and Tongariro Area School

Taihape Area School principal Richard McMillan said hosting the Tongariro Area Schools Sport's Exchange had been exciting and hard fought.

Sports Teams from Tongariro Area School in Turangi came through last Thursday for the annual event of the Taihape/Tongariro Challenge Shield.

"It's a lot at stake for both schools. After a very hard fought and even competition, Tongariro retained the Challenge Shield."

"It was a very special day, made more so by the lovely weather and excellent ground conditions".

Two new events were added this year, fishing and tug of war, as well as the traditional rugby, netball, and basketball," he said.

"They were both exciting and enjoyable innovations."

The TAS Students were wonderful hosts, and made a huge contribution to the success of the day.

"And I would like to acknowledgement the outstanding organisation of Sports Coordinator, Jude Hardwidge. It was a superb day."
