Save Fire destroyed a second Whanganui home in three days in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Whanganui fire fighters were called to Savage Crescent in Aramoho at about 7.45am.
"It was well involved so two trucks went to that," senior station officer Jemal Weston said.
Smoke alarms eventually alerted the
two occupants who escaped, needing treatment for minor smoke inhalation, he said.
"The value of smoke alarms again saved some lives."
